Every Crystal and What It Actually Does
151 crystals explained — what they do, how to use them, how to cleanse them, and the misconceptions that everyone keeps repeating. No overpriced crystal shop energy here. Just honest information you can actually use.
How to choose a crystal that actually helps
There are two honest ways to pick a stone, and they rarely get taught side by side. The first is by correspondence — each crystal has a recognized association with a particular area of life. Rose quartz with self-love and relationships. Amethyst with sleep and intuition. Black tourmaline with protection and grounding. Reading that correspondence and matching it to what you're working on is the classical approach and it works. The second way is to ignore the labels entirely and notice which stone your hand reaches for. That sounds woo; it's actually just trusting that your nervous system can read texture, weight, color, and temperature before your mind catches up. Both methods are valid. Use whichever feels less performative that day.
What to avoid: buying crystals because an influencer said they'd fix your life. A stone is a supportive tool, not a substitute for therapy, conversation, or rest. If a shop promises that one particular crystal will make someone love you, manifest rent money, or cure an illness, the shop is selling you a story. The crystal is fine. The story is the problem.
How to cleanse without damaging your stones
Most of the cleansing advice online is either harmless or quietly destructive. Selenite dissolves in water. Malachite and pyrite release toxic dust when soaked. Amethyst, citrine, and rose quartz fade in direct sunlight. The methods we trust across every stone in this library are breath (hold the crystal, exhale with intent, repeat), sound (a singing bowl or tuning fork above the stone until the tone decays), moonlight (a few hours on the night of the full moon — bring indoors before dawn), and smoke from ethically sourced plants. Each detail page calls out the methods that are safe for that specific stone and the ones that will pit, fade, or dull its surface. Full protocol at how to cleanse crystals.
What you won't find here
No cultural appropriation framed as aesthetic. No “rare ancient stones” that are dyed glass. No crystals labeled as cures for serious medical conditions. No pressure to build a collection. The library errs on the side of the reader who bought their first stone last week and isn't sure what they need next — because that's most of us at some point. “The first reader I've worked with who didn't try to impress me. Just specific, kind, and right.”
