Crystal guide
Chalcopyrite
The copper-iron sulfide that develops iridescent rainbow tarnish — chalcopyrite is the stone of the mystic, flashing colors from what looks like plain stone.
Overview
Chalcopyrite is copper iron sulfide. When exposed to air, it develops iridescent purple, blue, green, and gold surface tarnish — giving rise to its peacock ore name. (Note: peacock ore is sometimes also applied to bornite, a closely related mineral; the names are often used interchangeably in commerce.) Major sources are worldwide in copper-mining regions. Mohs 3.5-4.
Energetically, chalcopyrite is traditionally called the stone of the mystic.
